Founded in 1973 by Phil Coverdale and Roger Hodgkins, the company quickly expanded from packaging materials sales into the manufacture of corrugated cases and fittings.

In 1974 the company became Roydon Packaging and established a strong working relationship with our main board supplier, a collaboration that still continues today.

In 1977 Phil Coverdale bought out his partners’ share in the company and Roydon Packaging moved into rented premises at Harolds Road in Harlow, where Danny Stone joined the team as a salesman, going on to become Sales Director. Over the next few years the company purchased six units at Harolds Road, acquiring a seventh in 2002 on a long lease. In 1983, Phil’s son, Simon Coverdale, joined the company, working his way his up from the factory floor, before graduating to the office and then becoming commercial director in the mid 1990’s.

In 2002 Phil retired, followed by Danny in 2003. Simon took over the company on his father’s retirement, and has continued building on the reputation that Roydon Packaging earned for itself over the previous 30 years.
